D.A.W.G. Training - Our Instructors
Our instructors are all actively training and trialing their own dogs in competitive agility and we all share a great love and care for all dogs.
- Bernadette van Klaveren
Bernadette is "owned" by 8 dogs, and she is currently training all 8 and trialing with 3 Bernese Mountain Dogs ages 4 and 3 years old. Between her current competition dog and past competition dogs , they have earned over 40 Titles including the Agility Trial Champion of Canada as well Bronze Award of merit as placing 1st with her Bernese Mountain Dog Thorgie in the 2002 BC Regionals championships Veterans Class. Bernadette has been involved in Agility since 1993 and is an Agility Masters level Trial Judge for AAC, CKC organizations. She is also active as course approver for AAC, and heads up AAC Judges clinics where new candidate Judges come to train and qualify to become full fledged AAC Judges.
- Doe Shires
Doe has been involved in agility since 2000 and has since reached the Agility trial champion status with 2 of her border collies and has moved on to achieve the Gold Award of Merit with her BC Tip. She also placed with both her competition dogs, Tip and Sadie, on the podium at the National championships in 2006, and with her Border Collie "Tip" in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010! She is currently owned by 5 dogs, all border collies, some of them rescue dogs. Agility is her passion and she has attended many seminars from the world's top handlers, and is very willing to share her great knowledge with any agility enthusiast. Doe is also an AAC Masters level trial judge.
- Linda van Klaveren
Linda is an AAC agility judge at the masters level, and currently training and competing with her 4 rescue dogs for agility. She competed at the Regional Championships in 2010 and qualified for Nationals. She competed in the AAC National Championhips with her dog Solo in Calgary in 2010. She also enjoys trick training and has an excellent understanding of operant conditioning (clicker training) in dogs. She has been involved in agility and training since 1995.
- Anne Charlton
Anne has competed in agility for many years and currently has 3 border collies and one BC cross. 3 of her dogs actively trial in competitions at local and Regional level in the Masters class, and 2 of them competed recently at National level at the AAC National championships in Calgary with Nick placing 6th in the very competitive 26 inch class.
- Louise Schulz
Louise has been an instructor with DAWG for several years, and her Portuguese Waterdog Maya and her Cockapoo Sam have competed and achieved several titles in trials at the local and regional level, and they are trialing at the masters level. Louise has a great understanding of the many aspects of training consistently for success. She recently added a Lowchen to the family and he is showing great potential for agility! Her cockapoo Sam , primarily trained by Louise, competed at Nationals in Calgary with her husband achieving some personal bests.
- Kathryn Pate
Kathryn has 18 years of agility training and competition experience and has achieved the Agility Trial Champion status with 2 of her dogs, Lab x Katie and border collie Josie. She is currently competing with her rescue dog Alex in agility; Alex is a Chinese Crested Dog (no hair variety) and a little fireball! They competed at nationals in Calgary and are trialing at the masters level.
